#notsilent: Remembering Anne Frank

On Tuesday 14th April, Puffin and Penguin will remember Anne Frank with the Anne Frank Trust UK.

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
– from Anne Frank’s Diary of a Young Girl.

Anne Frank’s insightful story inspires us to change our world for the better. Anne Frank refused to be silenced by her oppressors and instead documented all her thoughts and feelings, until she was captured and killed in the spring of 1945.

This year, Puffin and Penguin have teamed up with the Anne Frank Trust UK to mark the 70th anniversary of Anne’s death with a minute of remembrance.

What is #notsilent?

Rather than hold a one minute’s silence to remember the end of Anne Frank’s life, we are inviting you to read aloud a one-minute passage from Anne’s Diary of a Young Girl. The Anne Frank Trust has a selection of passages suitable for reading – you can find them here.

On Tuesday 14th April, we’ll be sharing recordings of one-minute readings on Twitter using #notsilent. We’re also encouraging you to record your own extract and share it, to inspire others to speak out against injustice and take a moment to remember Anne Frank.

Find out more about #notsilent and how you can get involved on the Anne Frank Trust UK website.
